These units include a main control unit (with integral or separate power supply), intrusion detection devices (contacts, motion detectors, sound detectors, etc.), and alarm indicating devices (bells, relays, and the like).

The basic standard used to investigate products in this category is UL 1023, "Household Burglar Alarm System Units."

This category covers signal receiving, recording and supervisory units intended for permanent use within a central station or subsidiary station and associated subscriber's control units and the like to be installed within protected property.

Proprietary Alarm Units (Commercial Burglary) - 1100D, 1100X, 1103

This category covers proprietary burglar alarm systems which are electrical monitoring systems designed to provide status indication of burglar alarm actuating devices. All equipment is intended to be operated and maintained by competent and experienced personnel responsible to the owner of the protected premise.

The basic standard used to investigate products in this category is UL 1076, "Proprietary Burglar Alarm Units and Systems."

Local Alarm Units (Commercial Burglary) - 1100D, 1100X, 1103

This category covers local alarm units used to control burglar alarm circuits and a local audible alarm sounding device. The units are acceptable for use to form a Grade A or Grade B local burglar alarm system in bank safes and vaults, and to form a Grade A local burglar alarm system in mercantile premises or mercantile safes and vaults as indicated in the individual Listings. They may be used with units Listed under Police Station Connected Alarm Units (APAW).

The basic standards used to investigate products in this category are UL 609, "Local Burglar Alarm Units and Systems" and UL 464, "Audible Signal Appliances."

Police Station Alarm Units  (Commercial Burglary) - 1100D, 1100X, 1103

This category covers police station alarm units used to control burglar alarm circuits and a local audible alarm sounding device at protected premises, and to transmit an alarm signal from the protected premises to a police station or to a central station. The units are acceptable for use to form a Grade A, AA, AA encryption, B, BB or BB encryption police station connected system in bank safes and vaults, and to form a Grade A, AA or AA encryption police station connected system in mercantile premises or mercantile safes and vaults as indicated in the individual Listings. They may be used with units Listed under Local Alarm Units (AOTX). The transmission methods used to connect the protected premises to the police station or central station are designated as basic or intermediate line security suitable for Grades A or B, or high line security suitable for Grades AA, AA encryption, BB or BB encryption .

The basic standards used to investigate products in this category are UL 365, "Police Station Connected Burglar Alarm Units and Systems" and UL 464, "Audible Signal Appliances."

This category covers electronic devices which may be used to provide protection for mercantile premises, stock rooms, stock cabinets, safes, vaults and other items.

This category covers hand and foot operated initiating devices, control units, coded and non-coded transmitters and remote station units to receive signals from holdup alarm initiating devices.
