Version 1.01 Software Update Effective May 29, 2001, all Remote Link software is being shipped from the factory as version 1.02 (5/29/01) software. This version is an update from the 1.01 (3/09/01) software previously shipped and contains new features and updated operation to the program.
Important Bulletin Concerning Microsoft Windows NT Possible Network Slowdown with Windows NT Service Pack 4, 5, 6, or 6a. If you are experiencing sluggish network performance after you apply Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4, 5, 6, or 6a, then you should check out the following link. Microsoft indicates that the cause of this slowdown is due to a change that was made to the Rdr.sys file in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 to fix an issue with a handle being invalidated when a dismount occurs. This may cause additional network traffic, which may degrade performance.

New Features CRC and Sequence Number Communication between Remote Link and the XR200 and XR2400F version 109 (4/10/01) and the XR200-485 version 203 (4/11/01) is improved. Messages between Remote Link and these panel firmware versions now contain CRC and Sequence Number checking.
Database Backup Option
An option has been added to allow database backup. In the System -> Configuration ->Remote Link -> Database
dialog box, an option entitled "Backup Options" has been added. When the Options button is pressed, another
dialog box opens allowing the operator to choose different options for backing up the database. The operator can
choose the pre-existing location where the database will be saved, and how many days until Remote Link will alert
the operator to perform a backup. Pressing the Backup button starts the backup process. Pressing the OK button
saves the options, but does not backup. Pressing the Cancel button exits the dialog box without saving any
changes.
Note: The Backup Feature requires a cabinet.dll file installed either in the same directory as the Link.exe file or
under the C:windowssystem directory. Some older versions of Windows 95 do not have this file available. If at
start up, an error is displayed stating cabinet.dll cannot be found, copy this file from the Remote Link CD and paste
it into the C:windowssystem directory. If the Remote Link CD is not available, call DMP Technical Support at 1-
888-4DMPTEC.
Alarm List When an alarm or other signal is received from a panel and an operator is not logged into Remote Link, the Alarm list will open with a pop-up window that displays the message "Operator must log on before processing message." An alarm list message may not be acknowledged until an operator has logged in.
The New Panel Dialog Box The dialog box that opens when a new panel is created has changed. A checkbox labeled "Programming on File" has been added. By default, this box is checked. There are two situations where you may want to uncheck the "Programming on File" box. First, if you are using Remote Link with the Alarm List and you want to monitor the account without maintaining a programming file. Second, if you have a panel with multiple area account numbers, you may create and assign an area account number with no programming on file to the main panel account number. After an alarm is received from the area account number this allows you to connect to the main panel account.
Zone Number Length In the Receiver configuration dialog box, the label "Loop #" has been changed to "Zone #."
Printing Reports An option entitled "Saved Reports" has been added under the File -> Print menu. When an operator chooses the Saved Reports option, a dialog box opens with a field for the file name and a button to browse for a saved file. This allows criteria from a previous report to re-used. Also included in the box are buttons for setup, for previewing reports, a print button, and a cancel button.
Set All Traps When Remote Link or System Link receive a System Startup message from the SCS-1 or the SCS-105 Receiver, all traps that had been entered in the trap dialog box are now automatically reset. Previously, the user needed to manually select Panel>Set All Traps after the receiver was started.
Updated Operation Network Database Access Remote Link network database access is improved. Previously, accessing a network database may have been slow, especially with a large database. Note: Performance is also improved when the Remote Link executable resides on the local PC hard drive and not a network drive.
XR6 and XR10 Communications Errors no longer occur when sending or receiving a file to or from an XR6 version 102 through 106 and XR10 version 104. Previously, an error would occur during the sending or receiving of the communications section of programming, causing the process to stop.
Presignal Option In the zone information screen of Remote Link, there is now an option to enter addresses for presignal operation. This option is only available when retard has been selected for a zone. Previously, this option was labeled PreWarn for fire zones.
Trapping XR6 and XR10 An error no longer occurs when trapping and automatically sending a file to an XR6 or an XR10. The error would occur during the initialization section and cause the process to stop.
Host Check In Time When remotely programming an XR200 version 104 panel, the option Host Check In Time now appears in the communications screen of Remote Link. Previously, the only way to program the Host Check In Time would was through a keypad.Zone Restoral Zone Restoral is now an option when programming the zone information of a 1912XR. Previously, the only way to program this option was through a keypad.
XR5 User Code The user code is not longer corrupted when sending a file to an XR5 panel.
XR6, XR10, XR20 User Code Levels Standard user codes in the XR6, XR10, and the XR20 are now retrieved correctly by Remote Link. Previously, when retrieved, all standard user codes would have a blank user level in the file.
Trap Defaults Remote Link will no longer automatically default to "Send the File" when a trap is set for a panel.
Previewing Reports Remote Link now previews reports in a shorter length of time. The speed at which Remote Link accesses the database in order to gather the information for a report has increased.
Schedule Reports For Older Panels When previewing the schedule section of programming for a 1512, 1812 or 1912, an error no longer occurs. Previously, a "List index out of bounds" error occurred, causing the process to stop.
Retrieving Output Schedules Remote Link will no longer attempt to retrieve Output Schedules from a 1512 panel, which does not support Output Schedules. Previously, an error occurred during the Output Schedules portion of the retrieve process causing the process to stop.
1512 Communications When connected to a 1512 panel, the correct information is now displayed in the Program -> Communications screen. Previously, no information would have been displayed.
Second Line Test A field has been added under the Test Timer tab in the Communications programming of the 1912XR to allow programming for the Second Line Test. Previously, the only way to program this option was through a keypad. Second Line Type When HST is selected as the Main Communication type for an XR200, XR200-485, or an XR2400F, M2E is now a choice for the second line type. Previously, the only way to program the second line as M2E was through a keypad.
System Status Option The System Status Option is available for any user that has the authority. Previously, the option was only available to the default ˇ §new ˇ ¨ user in System Link or Remote Link.
Selectable Host Check-In Time The Host Check-In Time is selectable from 0-60 and AA. Previously, check-in times outside of working ranges were allowed.
Panel Callback When Remote Link is waiting for a callback from the panel, the session may be cancelled by pressing the Abort button. Previously, the Abort button was not available during the callback session.
Save Changes Answering Yes to "Save Changes?" or "Delete?" now saves all changes correctly. Previously, answering Yes intermittently did not save changes correctly.
Retrieving Events The 1812 Command Processor does not support the retrieval of events. Previously, attempting to retrieve events would cause an error message.
Miscellaneous Issues The following bullet list contains various issues addressed in this release.
Receiver number length is forced to one Debug table can now be disabled CLEAR AREAS is removed from the 1512 Command Processor panel Number of keypads options removed from 1512 Command Processor panel Schedule Closing Time sent properly with the 1512 and 1912 panels Cutoff output for the 1812, 1912, and 1912XR operates correctly Retrieving output schedules with the 1912 operates correctly While previewing reports no other windows can be accessed Zone Type drop down menu for 1912 has been corrected New file correctly selects keypads for 1912XR burglary zone keypads Zone Status on the XR5 has all zones as 24 hours zones Zone Information screen on the XR5 has no areas available Zone Information screen on the XR5 does not show Fire Bell Output option Communication for the XR5 allow change Test Frequency regardless of Defer selection Zone Information for the XR5 allows "Priority" selection for FI, FV, PN, EM, and SV zones Arming zones on the XR6 do not show Style option Priority zone is available for the XR6 and XR10 Fire Bell Output is not an option for the XR10 and XR20

Additional Release Notes for Remote Link
Upgrades
Upgrades for Remote Link (or System Link) sometimes require altering the structure of the database so after
downloading an upgrade, one may see the following message:
Answering no will shut down Remote Link. Yes must be selected in order to proceed with the use of the upgraded
package.
Note: If your database is on a network, ensure all users have the upgrade for Remote Link installed, or they will experience the opposite problem i.e. they will not be able to use their version of Remote Link with the upgraded network database.
Restarting Remote Link
If restarting Remote Link after a system crash or lack of response, you may see the message "Please wait,
verifying database integrity" displayed on the startup splash screen. This is due to Remote Link verifying the
integrity of the database and attempting to make any repairs, if necessary. If a database is found in need of repair
the message "Attempting to repair table" will display with the database table name it is repairing. These messages
were added so users are aware why Link is not coming up as quickly as expected.
