As the 2G Sunset announced for January of 2017 is actually happening early in some parts of the country, many dealers are launching aggressive programs to update their systems. To aid dealers in this process, Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) has announced several deep discounts on cellular upgrade solutions for all DMP panel lines. In addition, DMP has announced it will no longer be shipping 2G GSM units to dealers in North America after December 2013. In keeping with its practice of providing upgrade paths to more-current technologies, DMP is offering dealers deep discounts on upgrades to the newer CDMA and HSPA+ communicators that they use for migrating their customers to the new technology.
“DMP has been offering dealers the option to transition to the new options for the last 12 months, and we are now announcing the discontinuance of the GSM units next month. For dealers that haven’t already switched to the new technology we are offering a discounted program for upgrades to ensure a smooth transition”, said Vice President of Sales, Mark NeSmith. “We want dealers to plan accordingly and upgrade their systems well in advance of the shut-down and continue to provide their customers with industry-leading security and functionality.”
By offering several discount options on CDMA and HSPA+ upgrades, dealers can immediately take advantage of the solution that works best for them. These significant discounts are good for 2G products previously installed (not just recent installations), and this program will continue until after the announced 2G Sunset date in 2017.
- Update any XT Series panel by replacing the built-on GSM cell module with a plug-on cell connector that enables the addition of a CDMA or HSPA+ plug-on modules. This upgrade solution has been in effect for a year, and will continue to be available to dealers FREE of charge. Additionally, any 263C or 263H plug-on module used to upgrade these panels are available at a greater than 30% discount.
- Update any existing 263G or 463G module to a 263C or 463C CDMA module, including a new antenna for only $49, which is over a 60% discount from buying a new unit.
- Replace any existing 263G or 463G module with a brand new 263H or 464-263H HSPA+ module, including a new antenna for only $99, which is over a 30% discount from buying a new unit.
- Update any XTL panel to an XTLC CDMA panel for only $49, which is over a 70% discount from buying a new unit.
DMP panels are forwards/backwards compatible with existing and new cell modem technology, allowing dealers the flexibility to upgrade to the Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile Networks. By discontinuing production of the 2G GSM digital cellular communicators in late December 2013, this will ensure that dealers are moving to communicators that provide an extended future on whichever network they require.
The DMP 2G products were being phased out by the introduction of CDMA & HSPA+ communicators in 2012. Models to be discontinued in December 2013 are: 263G, 263GCAN, 463G, 463GCAN, CELLCOMRT & XTL.
